About Carol

I am a private tutor with over 25 years of experience and a proven track record of improving the knowledge, skills, progress and attainment of my students. I have worked with students including KS2 students preparing for SATs, KS4/GCSE and KS5/A-Levels. At each level I recognise the importance of capitalising on my students’ strengths and using differentiated teaching strategies to meet their learning needs and ensure learning and mastery of the subjects that I teach.
My own academic journey and achievements have put me in good stead to meet the needs of my pupils and I believe that with my great experiences my students have been of great benefit and in feedback from some of my students and parents, it has been mentioned that I am a good role model.
My tutoring of students is not limited to teaching curriculum content. I also support my students in developing good study and exam skills. I have helped students surpass their predicted grades; achieving 100% A* - B and more recently, 100% 9-7 results. In addition, I’ve also supported students in passing 11+/13+ exams and interviews, securing places in top selective schools.
I have also worked as an SEND Learning Support Assistant in a comprehensive school and this experience afforded me insight into supporting children facing varied barriers to learning in achieving their academic potential.

About the lesson

I am a fully qualified teacher with a Bachelor degree in Education and Master of Arts in Education. As a qualified GCSE/ A level tutor (English /Geography ) I make good use of the time spent with students every day as a facilitator of learning by taking advantage of opportunities for informal assessment, and then pull together groups for re-teaching and challenge. In addition to my observations and conversations in class, an online learning platform usually provides students with 24/7 access to digital tools to connect with the in class tutor resources ,homework guidance and feedback from me. All of my lesson resources are done through power points or google slides. Schemes of learning are reviewed termly and adjustments are made where necessary.

My experiences have allowed me to perform well under pressure which is both a personal and professional quality that I am good at. The ability to stay calm, think logically and act correctly is an essential skill that I possess.Working in education means that it is imperative that I am a highly organised individual and that I am an excellent communicator, sharing clear and concise communication with all parties is essential in an organisation. As an experienced tutor I had taken on the lead role in the different schools to improve teaching and learning.
