About Helen
I have always been passionate about providing accessible education for all age groups. During my time at school, I had an undiagnosed learning difficulty. This meant I struggled to achieve the high grades I knew I could obtain with the right tools.
As such, I have been inspired to provide support and study skills to those who have recently found out they have a learning difficulty or want to maximise their potential.
Every human is different, from what kind of food we like, to our favourite songs. So why would learning be any different? I truly believe there is a way to make any subject interesting, even if it is your least favourite! Understanding your learning style and giving you the tools to make the most of your talents is the first step on the way to success!
Learning should be fun and confidence-building. This is what you will experience if you decide to choose me as your tutor.

In my lessons, you will experience a tailor-made approach to learning. I believe in the differentiation teaching method which understands that every student is different and has a unique learning style ranging from auditory to visual. My lessons will be bespoke to each student's requirements based on an initial consultation where we will work together to identify your goals and how we can best achieve them.
I also utilise blended learning, using both technology and face-to-face teaching methods which forms a middle ground between traditional and technology-based lessons depending on your requirements.
My lessons will typically last 50 minutes with an additional 5-minute introduction and conclusive section at the beginning and end of each session. Depending on the student's needs, we can discuss organising back-to-back lessons of 1 hour and 50 minutes.
I have two years of experience working as a tutor with Butterfly Tutors. I am currently working as a professional librarian in a school where I run up to 30 one-to-one reading interventions with students every week. I hold a BA degree in English and have recently completed my Masters in Creative Writing where I achieved a distinction.
My lesson can be adapted for younger students as well as adults, with a focus on KS3 and KS4 students (ages 11-16). I am proficient in editing and essay writing so have the ability to provide lessons for sixth-form and degree-level students.
