About Whitney

Hello! My name is Whitney, and I’m a passionate STEM professional and experienced math tutor with a background in bioengineering and healthcare technology. Over the past several years, I’ve tutored students ranging from Pre-K learners building early math skills to working professionals preparing for the GRE and SAT exams. I specialize in Algebra, Early Math, SAT Math, and GRE Quantitative Reasoning, and I love breaking down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step lessons that build confidence and mastery. My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals whether that’s catching up in school, getting ahead, or preparing for a big exam. Beyond tutoring, I’ve worked in health tech as a Product and Program Manager, leading projects in virtual reality and digital health applications. This unique background helps me connect math concepts to real-world problem-solving, making learning both engaging and practical. Above all, I believe math is not just about numbers—it’s about problem-solving, creativity, and confidence-building. I’m excited to support learners of all ages on their journey to success!

Teaching Method & Techniques
I focus on making math clear, structured, and approachable. My method combines step-by-step explanations with guided practice, so students not only solve problems but also understand the reasoning behind them. I tailor lessons to each learner’s pace and goals, using real-world examples from my STEM background (Master’s in Bioengineering) to show how math connects to practical applications.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Quick review of previous concepts to reinforce learning

Introduction of a new topic, explained simply and with examples

Guided problem-solving together, highlighting strategies and common pitfalls

Independent practice with feedback and tips for improvement

Wrap-up with a summary and optional homework to track progress

What Sets Me Apart

STEM Expertise: With a Master’s in Bioengineering and experience in health technology, I bring an applied perspective that makes abstract math more engaging and meaningful.

Range of Learners: I have successfully taught students from early math (Pre-K & elementary) all the way to working professionals preparing for SAT, GRE, and advanced exams.

Personalized Support: I adapt lessons to individual learning styles—whether that’s building confidence for younger learners or focusing on efficiency and test strategies for exam prep.
