About Tess
My teaching approach is built on diplomacy, accountability, and open-mindedness to create a positive and productive learning environment. I believe that respect and clear communication between tutor and student help build trust, making it easier to overcome challenges together. I encourage students to share their goals and feedback so lessons can be adapted to fit their unique learning style and pace. I hold students accountable for their practice and progress, while also providing the support and motivation they need to stay on track. I use a mix of traditional techniques and modern tools like slow-motion practice, recording, and digital sheet music to help students understand their playing better and improve efficiently. This helps make practice both effective and enjoyable. Besides violin, I also teach related subjects that support a well-rounded musical education, such as music theory and ear training. My goal is to help students grow as confident musicians who enjoy learning and express themselves fully through their instrument. I’m here to guide and inspire every step of the way.

I am a passionate violin tutor with over 9 years of experience specializing in teaching college students. My focus is on helping students develop both strong technical skills and deep musical expression. I understand the challenges that come with learning the violin at an advanced level, so I work closely with each student to tailor lessons to their individual needs and goals.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and encouraging. I believe learning should be enjoyable, so I combine traditional techniques with innovative methods such as slow-motion practice, ear training, and the use of digital tools like recording apps and interactive sheet music. These tools help students better understand their playing and track progress in a clear and motivating way.
Beyond just playing notes, I encourage creativity and musical interpretation to bring pieces to life. My goal is to build confidence and a lifelong love for music in every student. Whether you want to refine your skills, prepare for performances, or simply enjoy playing more, I am here to guide you on your musical journey.
