About Balthazar
I'm currently studying Mathematics at a Masters level at the University of Rennes 1. Before joining college, I went to a Maths prep school for two years, so I can share my experience if that's the kind of studies the student is interested in. I also attended ENSIMAG for a year (it's a computer engineering school).

I think that the understanding of mathematics comes first and foremost from practice: for instance, a theorem is much easier to understand if you get to apply it regularly. For this reason, I give exercises that can be researched with the help of the student's notes, so that they can see the material in action.
When correcting an exercise, I try to show different ways of seeing a problem. I also try to explain how I personally solved the exercise (including the various mistakes that I may have made along the way) and I encourage the students to do the same: that way students avoid repeating mistakes and can come up with their own strategies to solve problems.
