About Mary
As a native Greek speaker, I offer a unique and enriching learning experience that blends my deep knowledge of language with my passion for teaching. With fluency in English, Russian, Bulgarian, and Spanish, and basic knowledge of German, Mandarin Chinese, Italian and French, I understand the challenges of learning a new language from a personal perspective. This polyglot background allows me to explain Greek in a way that is approachable for speakers of many different languages. I am able to teach Greek using English or other languages, such as Russian, Bulgarian or Spanish. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Russian Language and Literature and Slavic Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as an Acting degree. Currently, I am based in Athens and I am pursuing a Master's degree in Creative Writing at the Hellenic Open University, which reflects my passion for language, storytelling, and the art of expression. My studies have not only been confined to Greece, but I’ve also expanded my academic and cultural horizons through international experiences, including an Erasmus exchange scholarship at the University of Sofia in Bulgaria and also studies at Beijing Language and Culture University in China. In addition to my academic background, my professional experience as a language tutor since 2019 has allowed me to develop effective teaching methods and build a strong rapport with students of all levels and cultural backgrounds. Moreover, my working experience not only in Greece, where I was born and raised, but also in the United States has significantly enhanced my teaching abilities. This exposure to such a wide range of perspectives and experiences allowed me to develop a more flexible and inclusive teaching approach. Teaching is not just my profession—it’s my passion. I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge and guiding students through their language-learning journey with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
