About Charlène
I was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium, in a French-speaking family. My parents enrolled me in a Dutch-speaking school, marking my first experience with learning a new language. Growing up, I developed a passion for ballet, photography, and acting. From a young age, I dreamed of living in the United States. This dream became a reality during my senior year when I participated in an exchange program in Utah. It was there that I met my now husband.
Together, we have embarked on incredible adventures, traveling through Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America in a van with our little dog. During our travels, I have had the pleasure of teaching English to many people in Latin America and Asia. Despite my travels, French remains a fundamental part of my identity. Living in Utah, I continue to speak French regularly with fellow French speakers I’ve met here.
Sharing my culture and language has always been a joy for me, and I love connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I have also worked as a personal trainer, where I discovered my passion for teaching and helping others realize their potential.
French is not just a language to me; it’s a part of who I am. Through my experiences, I’ve found that learning and teaching languages is incredibly fulfilling. I look forward to sharing my knowledge, culture, and enthusiasm for French with my students, helping them to achieve fluency and confidence in speaking.

MY APPROACH AS A TUTOR
I believe in a hands-on, immersive approach to learning. From personal experience, I know that simply sitting in a classroom and listening to a teacher doesn't always translate to fluency. Despite years of traditional study, I struggled with learning a language until I moved to the US. Within just six months of immersive, conversational practice, I became comfortable speaking English. This transformative experience shapes my teaching philosophy.

In our sessions, we will engage in conversations centered around your favorite books, movies, and other interests. This method not only makes learning enjoyable but also incredibly effective. By structuring phrases and expressing your thoughts in real-time, you'll naturally expand your vocabulary and improve your fluency.
I understand that speaking a new language can be intimidating, especially with native speakers. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you can practice French with confidence. Together, we'll work on making you feel comfortable and prepared for real-life conversations.
My classes cater to students from beginner to intermediate levels that are eager to become fluent and comfortable speaking French. Learning from a native Belgian speaker whose first language is French offers you an authentic and enriching experience.
