Welcome to My English Tutoring Sessions!
Hello and welcome! My name is Leona, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help you on your journey to mastering the English language. As a native English speaker born and raised in South Africa, I bring a rich understanding of the language, its nuances, and its cultural context.

My Tutoring Approach
I believe that every student learns differently, so my tutoring methodology is tailored to meet individual needs. I combine a communicative approach with interactive activities, engaging materials, and real-life contexts to make learning enjoyable and practical. What sets me apart as a teacher is my ability to connect with students on a personal level, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where you can thrive.
Lesson Types
I offer a range of lessons designed to cater to different learning objectives, including:
Conversational English: Focused on improving fluency and confidence in everyday conversations.
Reading Comprehension: Enhancing understanding of written texts, from simple passages to complex literature.
Grammar and Writing Skills: Building a strong foundation in grammar while developing effective writing techniques.
Languages of Instruction
While my primary focus is on teaching English, I am also learning and have basic conversational skills in French & Lingala. This allows me to connect with students who may feel more comfortable starting their language journey in their native language.
What to Expect in a Typical Lesson
Students can expect a dynamic and interactive learning experience. Each lesson begins with a warm-up activity to engage and assess current knowledge. We then move into the main lesson, where we cover the planned topic through various exercises, discussions, and multimedia resources. Finally, we wrap up with a recap and set goals for the next session. Homework is also provided to reinforce learning between lessons.
