About Carol
I am a substitute teacher, who has been both on the student and teacher side of learning, so I am familiar with the pitfalls that students may experience in various topics, in various subjects. I am also familiar with what teachers are looking for when grading. Although my job as a tutor is to teach, I also pay attention to the verbal and non-verbal cues of my students, which will let me know whether or not they are grasping the concept. So my approach is, as slow as you (student) need it to be, reinforcing when necessary, concise, cover multiple approaches to solve problems, employ props or use real-life examples to convey points and encourage students as they grow in their journey. This has resulted in improvement for my students across the board, including increasing their GPA, and another improving their state math assessment grade by 2 levels in one academic year. With me as your tutor, along with professionalism, you will also get a lesson plan that is tailored specifically for you to succeed.

Each tutee is different, from the way they learn as well as their needs, therefore I take this into consideration before beginning tutoring my students.
1. Find out what areas they find particularly challenging
2. Give an assessment to see exactly where they are at in the subject area.
3. Develop a lesson plan based on their response, as well as the assessment results
4. Obtain a syllabus if possible, for their class, I try to stay current with their syllabus and go ahead to next topic
5. Lessons are geared towards elementary and middle school students
