About Phoebe

My teaching approach is systematic and clear, designed to make complex organic chemistry topics easy to understand. I focus on breaking down structures, reactions, and concepts step by step. I teach subjects like organic chemistry nomenclature, functional groups, reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, and isomerism in a way that builds confidence and clarity. We start by building a strong foundation in naming compounds and identifying functional groups. Then, I guide students through reaction mechanisms, showing how and why reactions happen, not just what to memorize. I use plenty of examples and illustrations to make abstract ideas more concrete. I also help students see the connections between structure and reactivity, which is key for mastering organic synthesis. I provide regular and constructive feedback, so students know where they are improving and what to focus on next. I’ve worked effectively with students from environmental and marine biology backgrounds, supporting them in excelling at organic chemistry.

I’m a Chemistry tutor with over 2 years of experience and a BSc in Chemistry, dedicated to helping university students excel in quantum chemistry. I specialize in making complex concepts accessible and engaging, breaking them down into clear, understandable steps. My focus areas include atomic and molecular orbitals, bonding theories, and spectroscopic transitions.

I use illustrative models and theoretical derivations to bring abstract ideas to life. With experience teaching both chemistry majors and physical science students, I tailor my lessons to fit your academic background and goals. I believe that a strong foundation in theory, coupled with visual learning, helps students truly grasp quantum principles.

My sessions often involve discussing real-world examples alongside rigorous derivations to enhance understanding. I guide students through tricky topics like hybridization, molecular symmetry, and electronic transitions with patience and clarity. Learning with me, you’ll build confidence in analyzing and predicting chemical behavior from its electronic structure.
