About Phoebe
My teaching approach is systematic and clear, designed to make complex organic chemistry topics easy to understand. I focus on breaking down structures, reactions, and concepts step by step. I teach subjects like organic chemistry nomenclature, functional groups, reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, and isomerism in a way that builds confidence and clarity. We start by building a strong foundation in naming compounds and identifying functional groups. Then, I guide students through reaction mechanisms, showing how and why reactions happen, not just what to memorize. I use plenty of examples and illustrations to make abstract ideas more concrete. I also help students see the connections between structure and reactivity, which is key for mastering organic synthesis. I provide regular and constructive feedback, so students know where they are improving and what to focus on next. I’ve worked effectively with students from environmental and marine biology backgrounds, supporting them in excelling at organic chemistry.
