About Doguscan
I have received my bachelor's degree from METU in 2011 and I have received my master's degree in architecture and urbanism from AA School of Architecture in 2015 with a graduate bursary. I have also completed Professional Practice in Architecture(RIBA Part 3) degree at London Met in 2019. Since 2015, I have been working with PLP Architecture in London, an international practice behind some of the most ambitious and sustainable buildings ever created. I work there as a computational designer with the title of associate partner, with a focus on conceptual and schematic design stages of the projects and competitions. This means I am a design-oriented professional who also employs computational design methods in daily practice and has a leading role in the practice.
I have always been passionate about two things; teaching and competitions. In addition to high-level international competitions in which I participated as a part of PLP, I have also privately participated in several architectural competitions during my career and received many awards including 2 x 1st prizes, having built my first building at the age of 24, several 2nd and 3rd places and honourable mentions. Some of my latest entries are editor's choice in Evolo 2019, Theodosis Harbour Archeological Park Competition 2nd prize and Commemorating Mimar Sinan in Uskudar Competition 1st honourable mention.
My second passion was teaching. Even though I didn't assume a full-time academic position by choice, I always enjoyed being a part of the teaching environment where fresh ideas are abundant and speculation is fun. As a popular architectural critic and competent computational designer, I have taught at the University of Westminster and served as a guest critic at several schools including TED University, TOBB and METU. I also do regular computational design tutorials at the office for people who want to improve their skills in this area. Being a founding member of PLP Labs where we do cutting edge design research with an interdisciplinary team, I give regular tutorials in my office to people who wants to improve their skills in the field of computational design.
I also served as a jury member of UIA’s International Young Architects and Awards idea competition “Unknown” for space habitation and was one of the 6 finalists of Turkish Architect of the Year in 2014.

My approach to tutoring is a balance of half theory-half practice. I will always make sure the content is well digested with practical applications after providing a solid theoretical foundation. I adopt the tutoring process with my students where we become colleagues working towards a common task. Plus, I was told I am very fun to learn from, I guess you have to see for yourself :)
Using my extensive experience in teaching and practising computational design, I am offering method lessons for Grasshopper+Rhino where we will develop a strong grasp of this highly sought after skill in the industry of architecture and design. Depending on your needs and goals to achieve lessons may be structured to include:
- Rhino+Grasshopper basics, intermediate, advanced lessons
- Information exchange methods between Rhino+Grasshopper - Revit+Dynamo
- Environmental Analysis (Solar, Wind, Daylight)
- Area Optimisation and Massing Control
- Evolutionary Algorithms in Design (Galapagos, WallaceI , Octopus)
