About Ashton
I am a 16 year old junior student at a magnet school in nashville. Before high school, I struggled with my grades as I found homework too much of a daunting task and the classroom environments I was presented with did not mesh well with my ADHD. But thanks to understanding friends and teachers, I have found my own way to work through my disadvantages and now hold a 3.8 GPA and have 3 APs on my transcript (one exam I got a 5 on and the other two courses I am taking currently). I hope to be that person for my students, that helps make school much less stressful. I already do this unofficially in many of my classes, helping my classmates understand the content and have received ample praise from my peers as their grades improve.

I aim to make a connection with the student (as a peer, not an authority figure) and help them learn the content in a way that they will retain easier and not make school work an upsetting experience. I will help them through assignments with out completing the work for them, instead offering help and being a listener as they explain their own thought process so I can understand how they think and they can see how they got to the wrong answer. Encouragement, listening, and patience is my main form of teaching, putting information into a format kids will understand.
