About Maisy
As a vocal coach with over 6 years of experience, I specialize in helping singers build technical proficiency and emotional authenticity in their performances. I work with students from a wide spectrum—teens preparing for auditions, college students pursuing voice degrees, adults rediscovering their passion for singing, and professional artists seeking advanced training. My teaching emphasizes breath control, diaphragmatic support, healthy vocal fold function, resonance, and pitch precision to create a balanced, sustainable voice. Beyond technique, I guide singers in interpreting songs with nuanced phrasing and dynamics, helping them tell a story that engages and moves audiences. I use technology extensively, including recording and playback, piano and backing tracks, and apps for ear and rhythm training, to provide clear feedback and motivate growth. I also encourage songwriting and improvisation to foster creativity and personal expression. My repertoire coaching spans pop, musical theater, jazz, R&B, and contemporary music, always tailored to the student’s unique voice and goals. I also prepare students for auditions, live shows, and recording sessions, with coaching in stage presence, performance anxiety, and vocal care. I aim to create a nurturing, inspiring space where singers feel empowered to develop their voice and artistry fully.

Voice is the meeting point of physiology and imagination, a bridge between internal feeling and external impact. I teach voice with a focus on Vocal Functionality, Artistic Agency, Intercultural Dialogue, and Lifelong Empowerment. Vocal functionality begins with learning how the voice works—from airflow and onset to resonance and articulation. I build exercises around the student’s specific needs, ensuring that technique is adaptive, sustainable, and responsive to different vocal demands. Artistic agency is cultivated by treating each singer as an interpreter and creator.
I encourage students to shape their own versions of songs, ask questions about phrasing and dynamics, and reflect on what they want to communicate through their music. We often write, improvise, or reinterpret to deepen this sense of artistic authorship. Intercultural dialogue shapes our repertoire. I present music that highlights the global diversity of voice—from West African polyrhythmic singing to Korean pansori to Appalachian storytelling ballads. Students are encouraged to research, question, and reflect on the histories behind the sounds they produce. This engagement enriches both vocal skill and human empathy.
Lifelong empowerment is my ultimate goal. I want students to leave my studio with not just a better voice, but a deeper sense of confidence, artistic clarity, and independence. We track progress not just through scales and repertoire, but through personal reflections, performance growth, and resilience in the face of challenges. Whether the student’s dream is a career on stage, a recording project, or simply singing in community with others, I am committed to helping them find freedom, strength, and joy in their voice.
