About Colston
I am a community college student at Pearl River Community College, I went to High School at Pearl River Central High School.
Through my High School years, math was always challenging. Every year it felt like it was so much harder than the last in math, but having someone I knew to help me really allowed me to excel in these courses. Now that I'm majoring in Civil Engineering, I have lots of math still in front of me, so it's easy for me to sympathize with a struggling High School or Middle School Student.

I've found that what helps me and other gifted students that may be falling behind is hands-on learning, no whiteboard lectures. What really helps some struggling students is practical applications. Maybe someone is struggling with algebra, well Spiderman uses algebra to plan his web swinging. Video games use algebraic equations to plan jump height, movement speed, and much more. As someone who was recently in High School struggling with math, nothing would help me more than sitting down with one of my friends and asking them for help, so I hope that I can bring that feeling to other students.
