About Michael
I lived in Europe for 40 years and had a personal relationship with a partner who could speak no English. I prepared invoices and estimates for garden design, I visited many industrial installations on behalf of engineers which were entirely francophone, and wrote annual reports for insurance companies in Algeria in French. I read French (17th Century to modern, as well as I can in English, and have been complimented many times by upper echelon Parisians at dinners and parties on my lack of a foreign accent. I wrote contracts in French, I corresponded extensively in French and I spent a great deal of my adult life going back and forth from London to Paris and other French cities as well as spending many holidays with French families in châteaux or villas in the Côte d’Azur.
