About Jessica
I was born and raised in London, but have lived in six different countries working as a freelance translator, interpreter for almost seven years working for companies such as FIFA, Victoria's Secret, Miss World, Europolitics and the BBC.
During this time, I also worked as an English teacher at a business school in Brazil for adults as well as an online French company, giving over 1,000 individual and group lessons to all ages and all ranges of English, therefore I'm used to adapting lessons both online and in person.
I have a BA in French and Spanish from the University of Leeds and an MA in Audiovisual Translation from City University as well as a diploma in interpreting.
English is my mother tongue, but I am fluent in French and Spanish, have a conversational level of Portuguese and Italian and am currently learning Russian and German.

As somebody who has been both a student and teacher of languages, over the years, I have learnt that there is no one perfect approach.
Everybody has a different way of learning, so I would take a very coactive approach in my methodology, allowing the student to engage and voice how he/she learns best.
Having said that, I do tend to place quite a high importance on the spoken language over grammar. I firmly believe that schools spend too much time focusing on grammar as opposed to perfecting an accent. There's no point in knowing how to speak grammatically perfectly if the listener cannot understand what you're saying! I believe that grammar will fall into place the more you practise and get comfortable with the spoken language and I will always kindly remind you when a mistake has been made :)
