About Mengya

I have loved art for as long as I can remember, and I find great joy in helping others bring their creative ideas to life, one step at a time. During my undergraduate studies, I taught art at a special education school and organised skill-sharing sessions in a student society. I now teach ceramics at studios in London and continue to develop my own artistic practice, exploring themes of body, nature and identity through exhibitions.

Seeing how art helps people become more patient, relaxed and confident is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching. I especially love watching students develop their portfolios, discover their own creative voices and turn their ideas into work they feel proud of. I believe everyone can benefit from making art, and I aim to create a supportive, encouraging space where students feel comfortable experimenting, learning and growing.

With five years of teaching experience, I tailor each lesson to your goals and experience. I combine practical demonstrations, personalised exercises of skill or research, case study and constructive feedback to help you strengthen technical skills and turn creative ideas into finished work.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and suit older teenagers, university students and adults, from beginners to portfolio applicants. I teach drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, calligraphy and mixed media, as well as visual research, project development and exhibition preparation.

Online lessons start at £30/hour and in-person lessons at £35/hour. Ceramics sessions may involve additional studio and materials costs.
