About Rachel
I have been passionate about learning Spanish since I was very little, probably 7 or 8 years old. Through the years I have grown to native- or near-native fluency, have traveled to Latin America twice and have continued learning through present day. My goal is to communicate the enjoyment and curiosity to my students that learning any language can bring. Finding commonalities between a student's other known languages is fun as well--if they speak Arabic or French, for example, we are always finding similarities between the languages to help us find deeper meaning of words, phrases, syntax and grammar.

I use a dynamic and engaging virtual environment to capture students' interests as we explore the language through science, math, music, poetry, stories and much more. Lessons reinforce what is being learned in school, prepare students for travel or work, and provide enrichment.
A typical lesson begins with a fun warmup of reading a funny comic, meme or phrase, interpreting it and discussing the meaning. The core content may be a vocabulary or grammar point, where the student is both listening, reading, writing and speaking. I keep records of our work together and may recommend practice outside of class.
