About Alexa
I am a licensed K-12 Visual Arts educator with over ten years of experience igniting creativity in learners of all ages. My path has taken me through classrooms, private tutoring, and creative leadership, and each of those roles has shaped the way I teach today.
My mission is rooted in the conviction that creativity and critical thinking are essential tools for growth. I dedicate my work to cultivating confidence in every student I meet, whether they are picking up a pencil for the first time or preparing a portfolio for college. By fostering an environment where curiosity meets encouragement, I help students harness their own unique talents and build skills that carry far beyond the page.
Alongside my teaching, I work as a Creative Director, leading design and branding projects. My practice spans fine art, graphic design, illustration, and mixed media, and that professional experience keeps my lessons grounded in real-world skill building, not just theory. Students benefit from an instructor who understands both the fundamentals of art education and the practical demands of a creative career.
Whether we are working on foundational drawing, design basics, or art history, my goal is the same: to make learning feel like a continuous journey of growth, resilience, and meaningful progress.

My Approach
I believe every student learns art differently, so my lessons are built around the individual, not a fixed curriculum. Drawing on 10+ years of classroom and tutoring experience, I blend structured technique with genuine creative exploration and problem solving. Whether we are working through the fundamentals of drawing or building a design portfolio, I meet students where they are and help them find their own visual voice.
A Typical Lesson
Each session opens with a short check-in on skills and goals, followed by focused, hands-on practice: sketching, painting, digital tools, or design exercises depending on the student's path. I weave in art history and visual literacy naturally, connecting techniques to the artists and movements that inspired them. Lessons close with reflection and a clear next step, so students always leave knowing what they built and where they are headed.
What Sets Me Apart
I bring a rare combination of licensed K-12 classroom experience and real-world creative direction. As a Creative Director, I lead design and branding work daily, which means I teach with an eye toward how art and design actually function outside the classroom, from concept through execution. My lessons balance technical skill building with the kind of creative thinking employers and college programs look for.
