About Genneth
I've been a tutor for 8 years and I make sure that I am a person who welcomes mistakes. These are very valuable in learning Math. Also, it is just okay if a student is not getting the lesson right away. That is what the tutor is for - to provide guidance and help or to even supplement what has already been learned.

I usually do direct instruction by providing the students examples and exercises that they can practice. The first set of exercises are usually guided first, so that the student can fully work on his own after.
For lower levels, I usually try to present the examples using visuals first (if applicable) for them to easily grasp the situation. This will later on develop into the abstract part of the lesson.
