About Lidia
-About Me:
I am a Brazilian language educator, communicator, and lifelong lover of words, stories, and culture. My journey with language began through literature and the arts, which led me to complete a Licentiate Degree in Portuguese Language and Arts in Brazil. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Literature and Culture in the UK, deepening my understanding of how language shapes identity, belonging, and expression.
As a multilingual speaker of Portuguese, English, and Spanish, I have experienced firsthand both the challenges and the beauty of learning and living between languages. This personal journey is one of the reasons I am so passionate about teaching.
- Why I Teach:
I teach because I believe language is more than communication — it is connection. It is confidence. It is culture.
For children, especially bilingual learners, language is deeply tied to identity and family roots. Supporting them in maintaining their heritage language is something I consider both a responsibility and a privilege.
For adults, language can open professional doors, academic opportunities, and new ways of seeing the world. Helping students gain confidence and express themselves clearly is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
My teaching is guided by empathy, creativity, and structure. I believe learning should feel safe, stimulating, and meaningful — not intimidating. Through literature, music, conversation, and thoughtful guidance, I aim to create lessons that are intellectually rich and emotionally supportive.
Teaching, for me, is not just a profession. It is a way of building bridges between cultures, generations, and possibilities.

I offer personalised, engaging and culturally rich private lessons in English and Portuguese for children and adults.
I hold a Licentiate Degree in Portuguese Language and Arts from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES), Brazil, and I am currently completing my MA in Literature and Culture at the University of Hertfordshire (UK). My academic background, combined with extensive teaching experience, allows me to bring both structure and creativity into every lesson.
I have significant experience teaching Portuguese as a Heritage Language to bilingual children, as well as supporting learners of different ages and linguistic backgrounds. My lessons go beyond grammar rules — I focus on meaningful communication, confidence-building, and cultural awareness.
My approach includes:
Building confidence in speaking and self-expression
Expanding vocabulary through meaningful contexts
Using music, literature, and storytelling as powerful learning tools
Supporting bilingual children in maintaining and valuing their heritage language
Creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
For children, I use songs, games, visual materials, and interactive activities that make learning natural and joyful.
For adults, I offer structured yet flexible lessons tailored to your goals — whether you are looking for conversational fluency, academic support, professional English, or deeper literacy in Portuguese.
