About Madeleine
Hi, I’m a recent A-level graduate and I want to help GCSE students realise that getting high grades is more achievable than it might seem, especially with the right techniques. As a student, I know how overwhelming revision can feel at first, but with the right skills, it becomes manageable. These skills can be carried into A-levels and beyond, so getting them right now is helpful and will save you stress later on!

I recently completed my A-levels in Maths, Chemistry and Economics with predicted grades of AAA. At GCSE, I achieved a grade 8 in Maths, 8 in Chemistry, 9 in Physics and 8 in Biology. While I didn’t take Biology or Physics at A-level, I’d still be happy to offer guidance in those subjects at GCSE level if needed. These lessons are aimed at GCSE students (Years 10 and 11) but I’m more than happy to go through content of lower years without the exam prep. A lesson lasts one hour to maintain focus and make the most of the student’s time. My teaching approach is rooted in active recall which is a proven method of revising. From the start, I teach students how to use active recall effectively so they can apply it across all their subjects. Once they are confident with the content, we shift to exam practice which is a key step in achieving high grades and passing. I would guide students through past paper questions, and between sessions, ask them to complete questions and send them to me for marking. This helps me plan what needs to be focused on next lesson. I also ensure that students are familiar with the exam board specification, as this was essential to my own success. Understanding exactly what each question is testing can make a real difference.
