About Alastair
I recently completed my A-levels at King’s College School Wimbledon, where I benefited from excellent teaching and developed a strong academic foundation in Maths and the sciences.
Alongside academics, I’m also a Junior World Champion rower, having competed internationally at the highest level in my age group. Balancing elite sport with demanding academics has taught me a lot about discipline, preparation and using time effectively, all habits that I bring into my tutoring.
I’m currently on a gap year before beginning my undergraduate studies at Yale University. During this time I’m keen to help students gain confidence in subjects I’ve studied recently myself, while sharing the study approaches and exam strategies that helped me succeed.
I aim to create a supportive and productive learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while building the understanding they need to perform well in their exams.

I recently completed my A-levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science (A*, A, A*, A*), and achieved nine 9s and one 8 at GCSE.
I’m currently on a gap year before entering as a Yale undergrad and keen to help students get the most out of their time when studying these subjects!
Because I sat these exams recently, I have a good understanding of where students tend to struggle and what actually helps in exams. My lessons focus on building clear understanding and then applying it through worked examples and past-paper style questions, so students develop both confidence and strong exam technique.
Lessons are usually 60 minutes and held online using a digital whiteboard (iPad and stylus), which makes it easy to work through problems step-by-step together. I try to keep sessions focused, practical and interactive, encouraging students to actively solve problems rather than just watch explanations.
I mainly tutor:
- GCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science
- A-level Maths (Pearson Edexcel), Physics (AQA), Chemistry (AQA), Computer Science (OCR)
I’m also happy to help with other GCSE subjects where needed, particularly with revision and exam preparation.
My goal is simply to make lessons clear, useful and tailored to the student, helping them build confidence and perform at their best in exams!
