About Nicole
Hola! My name is Nicole and I am a recent college graduate. I double majored in statistics and psychology at Amherst College, and also took courses in a myriad of other subjects, including Spanish, geology, political science, and computer science. I really love learning, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching others.
I have past teaching experience that I draw upon when I tutor. In the past, I have taught mental health curriculum to teens, given private lacrosse lessons, and have served as a tutor for my college's Spanish department.
I started learning Spanish in middle school and have been studying ever since. Spanish was my favorite subject in high school, and as a result of my efforts in my Spanish classes, I was awarded a scholarship and was also inducted into the National Hispanic Honor Society. I took Advanced Placement Spanish and scored a 5 on the exam, which allowed me to place into upper level Spanish courses in college.
I continue to study Spanish to this day through daily conversation with a language exchange partner, listening to music in Spanish, and reading the news in Spanish. I am very eager to continue my study of the language, so much so that I applied for a Fulbright Teaching grant to Spain for next year.

MY TEACHING METHODOLOGY:
1) Discuss goals - We will talk about your goals for learning Spanish, be it “I want to start learning Spanish,” or “I want to get better at my Spanish oral comprehension,” or anything in between
2) Discuss learning style - We will talk about your preferred methods of learning and I will create lessons accordingly. For example, if you like listening to pop music, we will incorporate listening to Spanish pop songs into lesson plans
3) Maintain progress record - I will keep a running log/record (shared with you) that will feature goals, progress notes, a log of at-home assignments, and more
4) Solicit feedback - I will regularly solicit feedback from you to ask if there’s anything I can do differently as your tutor to help you learn better, and will incorporate feedback accordingly
