About Gary
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Programming & Development and have spent the last 16 years helping learners turn curiosity into knowledge. At theCoderSchool I coached students one‑on‑one through Unity prototypes, while at Sylvan Learning, Kumon, and the University of Nevada, Reno I guided pupils from kindergarten reading logic to university‑level data structures. My classrooms run on patience, clear milestones, and professional game‑studio habits—version control, clean C# architecture, and respectful feedback. Whether you’re opening Unity for the first time or polishing a capstone, you’ll work with a tutor who has shipped real projects, mentored 100 + learners, and knows how to translate complex topics into motivating, age‑appropriate challenges. Let’s build skills—and confidence—together.

Hi, I’m Gary. I help beginners grow confident in Unity by learning through small wins that build into real projects. Each lesson blends a clear concept mini-lesson, guided live-coding, and a hands-on challenge you own. We start with Unity basics (editor navigation, GameObjects, components, prefabs) and C# scripting fundamentals, then progress to input, physics, UI, ScriptableObjects, events, coroutines, and clean code patterns (dependency injection init(), Null Object, data-driven design).
What sets my tutoring apart is production empathy: I’ve worked on Unity prototypes, slot-math simulations, and mobile gameplay systems—so I show you not just “how,” but why pros structure code for reuse, debugging, and team handoff. Every session ends with a short recap, version-control step, and a “next micro-goal” so momentum never stalls.
Great for K-12, high-school+, university students, hobby devs, or anyone preparing a class project, game jam build, or junior Unity job test. Bring curiosity; I’ll bring patience, structure, and honest feedback in a beginner-friendly, judgment-free space.

Perfect! My son had a great lesson with Gary. Gary was very patient, enthusiastic and met my son at his level.
- Great introductory session! Can't wait to make a spooky horror game in Unity! Don't forget, "Data vs Code" and that the Boolean data type means the data can be either: True or FalseGary's response :
