About Ashley
I began my tutoring volunteering from preschool throughout high school for my daughters' schools and classes.
I volunteered for ESL (English as a second language) for adults.
I became a paraprofessional teaching special needs students in high school while meeting them where they were for grade level understanding.

I first knew I loved helping teach children and adults English when I volunteered at school for my daughters' classes helping young minds read. I understood the importance of expressing ourselves and being able to communicate with those around us when volunteering for ESL classes for adults.
Later, when working as a paraprofessional with special needs students I learned I love help teaching students English. Reading, writing, spelling, etcetera. I wasn't just teaching them English, I was helping them to better understand the world around them. I was helping them communicate with their peers as well as their peers being able to communicate and understand them.
Not only did I learn patience throughout those years of my life, I learned something valuable. Not every student is going to learn the same way. I discovered out of the box thinking and ways to get through to students so they could understand and make sense. Their lightbulb moment, if you will. When everything makes sense, they understand, and you can see happiness in their eyes. That's what I live for. This is why I teach.
English isn't just a language. It's a crossroad where we can truly meet to understand each other and tell our stories.
