About Johnny
Johnny is a professional musician and experienced piano teacher with over a decade of teaching and performing experience.
After graduating from Leeds Conservatoire, he has built a diverse career in music, including a nomination for a BASCA British Composer Award, features on BBC Radio 2, 3 & 6, and performances at festivals across Europe.
Alongside his performing work, Johnny has taught students of all ages and abilities—from complete beginners to advanced players—and is passionate about helping each student develop their own musical voice.
Qualifications
MA Music (Distinction) – Leeds Conservatoire
BA (Hons) Jazz Studies (2:1) – Leeds Conservatoire
ABRSM Grade 8 (Classical)
Strong background in music theory, performance, and composition

Piano Lessons
Johnny offers piano lessons for students of all ages and levels, whether they are just starting out or looking to progress further.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual, focusing on the student’s interests, goals, and pace. Lessons can include:
- learning favourite songs
- developing technique and confidence
- preparing for exams (ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool)
- exploring jazz, improvisation, and songwriting
He teaches a wide range of styles, including classical, jazz, pop, rock, and blues.
Composition & Music Skills
Johnny also teaches composition, specialising in jazz and contemporary styles.
Students can learn how to:
- write and develop original music
- understand harmony and chord progressions
- arrange for different ensembles
- build their own creative approach
What to Expect
In the first lesson, Johnny takes time to understand each student’s musical interests and goals. From there, lessons are carefully tailored to keep learning engaging, structured, and enjoyable.
His teaching style is relaxed, supportive, and focused on helping students make real progress while enjoying the process.
