About Kumar
I am post-doctoral scholar at California Institute of Technology. I carry out research in small bodies of the solar system using the Zwicky Transient Facility survey with the 1.2m telescope. I have a PhD in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar.
I am a enthusiastic researcher and I would like to pass on my knowledge and motivate students in maths, physics and science.

My primary aim as a teacher is to make the fundamentals clear. My goal is to ensure that students learn the basic tools with a broader view in mind. Once it becomes clear, a student can then learn to question the bigger concepts based on the basic tools and this will give him or her, the confidence to go from undergraduate level science to a designing a research problem.
For me as a teacher, it is important to create a conceptual framework for the students, as they can grasp the science concepts in a much better way, if they understand the larger picture.
Two rules that I would like to keep in mind when teaching are (i) To assume that the students know less than what I think they know and (ii) They are more intelligent than what I think they are and will be able to appreciate the details. Accordingly, I cannot skip the basic details while explaining a concept, assuming that it is trivial, and they would any way know it. And once I explain the basics, I can go ahead and explain the more detailed section of the concept.
