About Nitashia
Hi, I’m Nitashia, a Dallas-based photographer, multimedia artist, and educator with over a decade of experience in visual storytelling. My work has been featured in national and international publications, including The New York Times and Communication Arts, and I’ve received multiple awards, grants, and artist residencies for my photography and documentary work. Alongside my creative practice, I’ve spent years teaching and mentoring youth and emerging creatives through workshops, community programs, and educational institutions. I believe photography is not just about technical skill, but about learning how to see, tell meaningful stories, and develop confidence in your creative voice. My lessons are supportive, hands-on, and tailored to each student, whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow your portfolio and creative direction.

My photography lessons are designed to be engaging, hands-on, and centered around creative exploration. Whether you are a beginner picking up a camera for the first time or someone looking to strengthen your visual storytelling, I tailor each lesson to meet you where you are.
We focus on both the technical and creative sides of photography, including understanding your camera, working with light, composition, and developing a strong visual voice. Lessons also explore storytelling, intention, and how photography can be used as a tool for self-expression and connection to the world around you.
I believe learning photography should feel supportive, fun, and inspiring—not intimidating. My teaching approach encourages curiosity, experimentation, and confidence-building. Students are guided through real-world exercises, creative prompts, and constructive feedback to help them grow at their own pace.
Lessons can include:
- Camera basics (DSLR, mirrorless, or phone photography)
- Lighting and composition
- Creative exercises and visual storytelling
- Photo editing and workflow basics
- Portfolio development and project guidance
I work with youth and adults, and lessons can be adapted for personal growth, academic support, or creative career development.
