About Kelly
I am currently a trainee teacher of post 14 education and carrying out a term-time placement teaching A’ level students. My areas of specialism are Criminology, Victimology, Zemiology and Sociology crossing into Social History and Social Psychology. All of these subjects require a high standard of English (for the analysis and production of research) and Maths (for the development and analysis of statistical information).
I love learning and frequently hear that learners who don’t have had previous demotivating experiences, either within or outside education. I want to support learners in overcoming those barriers, to share my love of learning and to reinvigorate the enthusiasm and esteem of learners who suddenly realise they can and are achieving!
First hour free which consists of consultation and individual learning/goal plan.

Good humoured, friendly, approachable but serious about the subject of learning. Mastery of language; both written and spoken, underpins our ability to communicate effectively. It impacts our learning, our understanding, how we make sense of the world around us, and even shapes how we feel about ourselves.
My teaching style is essentially humanist (learner-centred) and tailored to meet their individual needs and learning preferences. I employ the Principles of Teaching and Learning set out in (Sherrington, 2019) in conjunction with the Six-stage feedback model (Gould and Roffey-Barentsen, 2018) to continuously evaluate progression and inform goal-setting. Consistent with the current Ofsted and DfE frameworks for education and training.
I believe in breaking things down into manageable stages and in frequent repetition to aid in retention and recall. This methodology; along with a variety of formative assessments, ensures that taught content is fully embedded and understood as intended, so the student can fully apply it to their greatest benefit. I conform to the highest standards of professional practice and am fully trained and certificated in safeguarding, first-aid, PREVENT and GDPR.

A good grasp of the english language is the key to understanding many other subjects and is a core skill for learning progression and for life. All learners deserve the best chance to achieve their fullest potential and supportive, individualised tutoring can offer that.
