About Jo
Hi, I’m Jo. I’m a British 7-string Jazz guitarist and I perform and tour regularly across the UK, Europe and the world.
I studied jazz at university (Bmus), but I’m well versed in folk/pop/rock etc… I’ve worked with Beyonce, Brandy, Craig David, Andy Mckee, Sugarbabes, Lamar etc and loads more.
I’m also a platinum-selling, VMA nominated music producer.
I have 20 years of teaching experience and some of my former students are already amazing professional musicians in their own rights.
Music is my passion and has taken me around the world, performing to hundreds of thousands of people. And I love to share what I’ve learned along the way.
I teach all levels from absolute beginners up to any standard.

My teaching style is based on pursuing the musical interests of the student. I feel that the world of music is large enough that whatever style of music you are in too, you can do to a high level with the help of an experienced teacher. If you love the music you are learning, you are more likely to practice in between lessons, and that is the key to moving forward.
However, everyone needs…..
A sound, fundamental guitar technique (including plectrum skills, finger style, scales, chords etc)
A great ear
Strong rhythm
Repertoire
Emotional connection to the music

Perfect! Jo is an excellent teacher and a very gifted guitar player. He explains concepts very clearly (much more clearly than other teachers I have had) and his enthusiasm is quite infectious. I would definitely recommend him - I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better teacher.

Jo is an amazing guitar teacher! Now both of my daughters are having lessons with him and they have made so much progress in such a short time.
My girls are ages 7 and 12 and have had the confidence to perform live at events and have even been paid for performing! My eldest is learning an A-Level piece on guitar and she’s only 11!!
Jo is the best and I couldn’t be happier! Highly recommended!View more recommendations
