About Harper
I have been teaching guitar for over 11 years, with a Bachelor of Music Education focused on guitar. Music has always been more than just sound for me—it is a language of emotion, and I love guiding students to discover that for themselves. In my lessons, I emphasize the importance of solid technique, because a strong foundation allows freedom in musical expression. I also integrate music theory in a practical way, showing how it connects directly to what students play on the fretboard. This helps them not only understand music but also move fluently across the neck with confidence. I believe every student has a unique voice, and I make it my mission to help them unlock it. Whether they are playing a simple melody or a complex piece, I encourage them to bring out their feelings through their instrument. My teaching style balances structure with creativity, ensuring progress without losing the joy of playing. Alongside technical skills, I support students in developing stage presence, performance confidence, and the ability to connect with their audience. I enjoy working with students of all levels and adapting my approach to meet individual goals. Most of all, I want my students to leave each lesson inspired, motivated, and excited to keep playing. Music is a lifelong journey, and I feel privileged to be part of theirs.

My teaching approach is designed to help every student grow into a confident and expressive guitarist. I start with building strong fundamentals, focusing on correct body posture and relaxed hand positioning to avoid strain. Finger independence is developed step by step through simple yet effective exercises that prepare students for more complex playing styles. I believe mental preparation is as important as technical skills, so I guide students in building focus, patience, and confidence before moving to advanced techniques. Alongside this, I work on ear training and rhythm awareness to make learning natural and enjoyable. For students aiming to perform, I provide stage readiness training that includes managing nerves, practicing presence, and preparing for auditions or recitals. I adapt lessons to suit individual goals, whether it is mastering fingerstyle, exploring different guitar genres, or polishing performance skills. My sessions are supportive and encouraging, helping students who want to channel their energy and creativity into the guitar. I aim to turn challenges into achievements, so every student feels proud of their progress and excited for the next step.
