About Jayjay
Cooking has always been both my passion and my creative outlet. I specialize in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, but I also enjoy teaching the basics of kitchen safety, knife skills, and simple home cooking. My goal as a tutor is to make cooking accessible and enjoyable for everyone—whether you are a beginner, a student learning independence, or someone looking to refine your skills. I bring patience, clear explanations, and hands-on practice to every lesson. I believe that learning to cook is not just about recipes, but about understanding ingredients, techniques, and the joy of creating meals you can be proud of. Students appreciate that I adapt to their pace and make sure they leave each session with confidence in what they’ve learned. What sets me apart is my ability to combine the artistry of Japanese cuisine with everyday cooking skills that anyone can use at home. I aim to empower my students to feel comfortable in the kitchen while discovering the excitement of preparing food from scratch.

My teaching approach is hands-on, simple, and tailored to your level. I specialize in Japanese cuisine, especially sushi, but I also teach essential kitchen skills and basic cooking. I focus on making sure you feel confident, not just following recipes but also learning why each step matters.
What sets me apart is that I combine professional techniques with an easygoing, approachable style—perfect for beginners as well as those looking to expand their skills. Lessons can be adapted for anyone, whether you’re a student learning independence, a home cook wanting to try new cuisines, or simply someone curious about sushi.
By the end of each session, you’ll not only have a completed dish but also the knowledge and confidence to recreate it on your own.
