About Varda

Hello! I’m Varda, a native Chinese speaker and trilingual tutor (Chinese–English–Japanese), currently studying at Waseda University in Tokyo. I have rich experience in teaching Chinese through both structured lessons and language exchange, and I’ve helped students with everything from IB Chinese and school coursework to casual conversation and cultural understanding. As someone who has studied abroad and taught peers from diverse backgrounds, I understand how important it is to feel supported, understood, and motivated. My lessons are not only personalized and effective — they’re also built around creating a warm, encouraging environment where you can truly grow. Whether you’re learning Chinese for exams, travel, business, or just for fun, I’ll meet you where you are — and walk with you from there.

About the lesson

My Teaching Style:
My classes are relaxed, interactive, and customized to your needs. I use a blend of conversational practice, reading materials, writing prompts, storytelling, and cultural references — whether you're a total beginner or an advanced learner working on fluency or academic writing.
I often bring in real-world materials: news articles, short stories, funny internet posts, and even Chinese memes — because language is alive, and so is learning.

Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up – casual chat or review from last class
Core Focus – grammar, vocabulary, or reading/writing/speaking activity
Cultural Corner – idioms, slang, or interesting cultural context
Wrap-up & Reflection – recap key points, small takeaway, and next steps

No rigid textbook-only format — we go at your pace, and shape the lessons around what inspires you.

What Sets Me Apart:
Native Chinese speaker with strong writing background (won a national Chinese writing competition )
Fluent in English & Japanese — I understand what it’s like to learn a new language from scratch
Real classroom + informal teaching experience (IB, language exchange, online tutoring)

I care deeply about creating a safe, open, and creative learning space where you feel seen and supported

Who My Lessons Are For:
Students of all levels: beginner to advanced
IB/AP Chinese learners & school students
Adults learning for work, travel, or personal interest
Anyone who wants to connect with Chinese language and culture — seriously or casually

Whether you're prepping for a test, want to improve your conversation skills, or just want to explore Chinese through fun and honest conversations — I’m here for you
