About Tanya
Hello! I'm Yijia, from Shanghai, China. I studied in the UK for 5 years and graduated from University College London (UCL). While I was there, I not only learned a lot about Western culture, but also gained a lot of teaching experience. I even volunteered in Bali teaching English to local students, which taught me how to adapt my teaching to suit different learners. As a Chinese teacher, I speak standard Mandarin and love to create lessons that meet your goals. Whether you want to improve your listening, speaking, reading or writing skills, or delve deeper into Chinese history, culture and traditions, I'm here to help you improve quickly. My teaching style is super flexible and interactive - I focus on making sure you get something useful out of every lesson. If you're excited about learning Chinese or just curious about China, why not book a trial lesson with me? Let's start this amazing journey of learning Chinese together and discover how cool the language and culture can be. I can't wait to meet you!

As a tutor, my teaching method is student-centered, interactive, and adaptable. I believe every learner is unique, so I tailor my lessons to fit your goals, interests, and learning style. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, I focus on making learning fun, engaging, and effective. - Teaching Method & Techniques: I use a mix of visual aids, real-life scenarios, games, and storytelling** to make lessons dynamic and memorable. For example, if you’re learning vocabulary, we might use flashcards or role-playing. If you’re practicing conversation, we’ll dive into everyday topics or cultural discussions. I also emphasize connecting Chinese to your native language** to help you see patterns and make learning easier. - A Typical Lesson Plan: 1. Warm-up: A quick review or casual chat to get into the learning mindset. 2. Main Focus: Introduce new content (e.g., grammar, vocabulary, or cultural insights) through interactive activities. 3. Practice: Apply what you’ve learned through exercises, role-plays, or games. 4. Wrap-up: Summarize key points and set goals for the next lesson. - What Sets Me Apart: What makes me unique is my flexibility and cultural perspective. Having lived and studied abroad, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and culture.
