About Majid
My highest rating on Chess.com is 1800, and I have over four years of experience tutoring chess throughout the years. During my chess career, I’ve achieved wins against a Candidate Master and a draw against a National Master, which helped shape my understanding of strong chess fundamentals.
I learned to play chess from my father at the age of 6, and was competing in tournaments by age 8. Although I played as a fun pastime and hobby, I had a natural talent for the game. At age 14, I met my chess coach at my high school, who trained me for four years. While training under him, I was a three-time gold medalist in district tournaments, trained an entire club, held exhibition matches, and even tutored special needs children to play. At age 17, I had finally beaten my coach in under 30 moves while blindfolded.
I now play chess casually, and enjoy tutoring in my free time. I believe in a holistic approach to chess - not only should you understand the principles and improve your theory/calculation, but understanding the history and different styles of chess is fundamental for learning the game.
