About Jim
As an advertising executive and having worked at major agencies throughout the country, I've been using Photoshop from the time it was introduced. Now retired from a long and successful advertising career, I currently teach Photoshop classes privately, or with groups at the Evanston Art Center and through workshops. I believe the best way to teach anything, and especially Photoshop, is by helping students understand the why behind the way things work. What's learned is easily forgotten if what's learned is not fully understood. See my work at (concealed information) You can reach me at (concealed information)

If you're using anything other than Photoshop to edit your photos, you're only getting a fraction of the joy you could have creating images that are frame worthy.
When it comes photo editing, I probably don't have to tell you Photoshop rules the roost. Many would like to learn Photoshop but give up sooner or later because its too complicated, or too time consuming, or there's just too much to remember.
I don't like overpromises myself, so I won't tell you Photoshop can easily be learned in 8 hours, 30-days, or whatever time frame is being promoted on Youtube. However, I will tell you that I can make what once seemed complicated very simple. I provide an easy-to-grasp, fun way to learn the essential tools you'll need to know. And through guided practice sessions you'll be able to readily recall what to do when certain problems arise.
And hey, if you're only interested in a week or two's worth of refreshing, I can help you there, too.

P.S. I'm an expert at using the TK9 plug-in if you're already a Photoshop user.

I have enjoyed learning with Jim.
He is a good listener, an expert at the subject matter (Photoshop in my case) and a good thorough teacher.
Learning how to has becom really fun and I look forward to continuing.Jim is extremely knowledgeable of not only Photoshop but of other photo-editing programs. I was able to take his Photoshop I class and he was very open to questions in and outside of the classroom, answering them via text or email which was extremely helpful.
He is especially good with students who are at an advanced level.I've known Jim for over 5 years as we are both very interested in photography and particularly the art of post-processing. I have also enjoyed two classes that Jim taught on the subject of Photoshop. Jim is an informal, engaging, and effective teacher. He brings an infectious enthusiasm for his subject and desire to help others understand. I highly recommend Jim as a teacher/tutor.
