About Madelyn

I have taught Latin 1-4 in high school for 13 years. I have also run summer day camps for late elementary and middle school students, so I have experience with other age groups. I am a writer in both Latin and English--I have published eight books, seven of them Latin books designed for students. One of these has been adopted as part of the curriculum for Cincinnati Public Schools. My students' National Latin Exam scores have consistently outperformed the national average. My students' passage rate for the AP Latin exam is exceptional: most years it is over 80%, and I have reached 100% twice.

About the lesson

I’ve been a Latin teacher for 13 years, and I absolutely love sharing my passion for the ancient Romans and the classics. I have extensive experience teaching the Cambridge Latin Course, Wheelock’s Latin, and the College Board Advanced Placement or AP Latin syllabus to high school students. I also have some experience with late elementary and middle school students. I believe that Latin is an incredible way to deepen your understanding of history, expand your vocabulary and grammatical awareness in your native language, and create connections that help you navigate your study in any other advanced field. I am committed to meeting the needs of individual students—I thoroughly believe that there is no one right way to learn something, and I am willing and able to find the way that is going to help you. Whether you are a beginner getting your first experience with the language, an intermediate student starting to run into challenges, an AP student trying to maximize your score to get college credit, or an advanced student ready to tackle more challenging authors, I can help you approach the Latin language in a way that will make sense to you and maximize your potential. Whatever your textbook/course and whatever your goals are for learning Latin, let me help you achieve them!
