Tutored family friends and brother before, they got As and my little brother managed to successfully secure places at his 11+ exams. Also helped secondary year people at school with maths when I got moved into A level, so already have experience in talking to people and helping their maths improve

I would ask questions about what the person is mostly struggling in, and then teach the kid content and show exemplar exam questions. then I would make the kid do some exam questions so that he gets the feel for it. homework would be exam questions in that style. this will continue until he feels like he’s confident in all topics, where we will then do exam papers, with the student doing it for homework and me correcting it with them in class time and telling them what’s wrong and how to improve
