About Lauren
I’ve been a math tutor at my school for almost a year now. I help students, particularly those taking Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and occasionally Pre-Calculus. From this experience, I’ve learned that each student processes math differently, and it’s necessary to adjust to accommodate each student. Serving as a math tutor has helped me preserve the skills I learned during those courses in previous years so they remain fresh. I have experience as well working with young children, and would be happy to assist with that as well.

I enjoy working with students from different grades who are taking varying levels of math. I currently serve as a math tutor at my high school. I am good at explaining math processes or problem-solving strategies to others from different perspectives. I’m able to pivot and explain a concept in another way if it’s not clear enough or doesn’t quite translate the first time. It is especially rewarding to see students experience that “aha” moment when something finally clicks and they develop confidence in a particular skill they once struggled with. Math isn’t necessarily intuitive for everyone, and some people are stronger in certain types of math than others. In spite of this, one of my goals as a tutor is to make math more approachable and enjoyable for those I tutor, because I believe it can truly be fun when you understand the process behind it. I also value the opportunity to support students through their journey of learning and discovering their strengths, while fostering an environment where mistakes and questions are encouraged. As a student myself, I especially value learning from one another as students, not just through a teacher-to-student dynamic.
