About Sarina
I have recently passed my final medical school examinations, having already undertaken an intercalated BSc at Imperial College London and achieving a First Class Honours, Dean's List (awarded to those students in the top 10% of the cohort) and two academic prizes. I have extensive tutoring students from primary school to A-level. However, my focus is currently on students sitting Entrance Examinations (particularly the 11+), as well as Key Stage 1-3 in the core subjects (Mathematics, English and Science).
I believe that in order for any student to excel, it is vital that as a tutor I tailor my teaching style to their individual strengths and weaknesses. From my previous tutoring experience, I have learnt that there is no universal teaching method that will suit every child, but instead it is vital to work in partnership to find a way to target the key areas of improvement. I find that as a student myself, I am able to understand the challenges of finding an appropriate revision and examination technique, and this is something that I believe is vital to establish very early on.
In order to ensure that the lessons are productive, I take the time to prepare material before the lesson begins. I believe that the sessions are best utilised to teach the content, and set homework to consolidate and reinforce this knowledge and identify any remaining areas of weakness. In terms of preparing for upcoming exams, I structure the timetable to ensure that the required curriculum is taught in advance of the examination date. I believe it is vital to leave sufficient time for revision and focus solely on refining and strengthening examination technique closer to the exam itself
