As a junior at Cornell University, I bring both academic expertise and a wealth of practical experience to my role as a math tutor for elementary and middle school students. My teaching approach is grounded in a thorough understanding of each student's current abilities and areas for improvement. Here's a deeper look into my tutoring philosophy and methods:
Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching method begins with an initial assessment to gauge the student's knowledge, identify struggles, and understand their goals. This diagnostic approach allows me to tailor lessons that build on their existing foundations, ensuring steady and robust growth in their mathematical understanding. I am adaptable and incorporate personalized study methods to align with what works best for each student. Encouraging a lot of questions is a cornerstone of my tutoring sessions. I believe that fostering curiosity and a questioning mindset is crucial for deep learning. My demeanor is patient, calm, and playful, making learning math a fun and engaging experience.
