About Julia
I have a Ph.D. in music from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I teach at Lewis & Clark College, Portland State University, the University of Portland, and Portland Community College. I offer one-hour, private guitar lessons from my home in SE and close to SW Portland. All ages and all levels are welcome. I teach in English, Spanish and French.
I teach many styles- I have a wide variety of styles in my own musical background and am happy to teach you your favorite style. I tailor adult lessons to the direction that each student wants to go. With children, I use the Suzuki method and am a certified Suzuki instructor, ages 5 - 105 +.
Depending on the style and student's choice, lessons can cover any or all of the following:
-technique
-theory
-learning new songs and adding to repertoire
-improvisation
-reading notation
