About Jeff
I am a Navy Veteran, I servedover 8 years active duty. During my time as a Helicopter Electrician and as a Recruiter I had to explain complex concepts to people that helped them understand the finest details of how a helicopter lifts off and flies, how to troubleshoot, diagnose and replace all the tiny little electronics relays and what they all do, and I've even had to explain to a class of high school students how Nuclear Power Plants and Air Craft Carriers work (hot rocks boil water, turns turbine generator, propels boat)
If I can teach such complex topics in a way anyone can understand, I will find a way to guide any student towards the knowledge they seek. I don't even have to have all the answers to be able to do this. I can guide you towards the concepts and break everything down into digestible chunks so that you spend your sessions effectively learning.
Its important to note that not all practice is created equal, and time with an instrument in your hands does not mean you are getting better with it. We can make sure our time is dedicated to valuable lessons, skills progress, expanding your vocabulary as a player, and introducing new concepts that bring light into your understanding.

Can teach guitar basics, scales and theory, songwriting and recording techniques.
I taught myself to play guitar as a teen with paper books my dad had laying around in the attic. Starting with drills and easy songs that build the agility, muscle memory, open chord transitions, and basic concepts that transfer to more advanced playing, as long as the mind can perceive we just need to train the hands to follow commands.
I can also help you understand music theory concepts, so that you can describe how the song works.
I play at open mic and blues jams, and when you ask the other players "I really want to play this song, do you know it?" They will often say "No, you'll have to teach it to me and I'll learn by ear as we go." I can teach you how to handle both sides, explaining the song as quickly as possible so players can join you and also learning how to improvise your way into a song you didnt know before you stepped on stage.
I can also teach you how to play and compose lead guitar parts, blues scales and other techniques that will help you play expressively. Developing your own influences and taste that helps you find your own signature sound.
I can also show electric guitar players how to set up their pedals and amps, and analyzing all the cool signature tones and effects of our favorite artists.
