About Matthew
I’m a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where I earned first-class honours degree in jazz trombone.
Alongside my studies, I have extensive performance experience having played at the BBC Proms, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club, and The Vortex.
In 2022, I was a semi-finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition and was shortlisted for the British Trombone Society’s Student of the Year award in 2023.
Beyond performance, I am a passionate composer. I regularly produce and perform in concerts featuring my original work, exploring a wide range of musical styles and ideas.

I offer 30 and 60-minute lessons for brass players of all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced students. Whether you’re preparing for ABRSM or Trinity grades, looking to develop your jazz improvisation skills, or simply playing for enjoyment, I tailor each lesson to suit your individual goals and learning style.
Lessons are designed to be engaging, flexible, and supportive, helping you progress at your own pace while building confidence and musicality.
In addition to instrumental teaching,
I also offer tuition in Grade 5 Music Theory.
