About Sophie
I have just graduated with a first class in International Development, and alongside the three years of my degree, I was tutoring part-time. Tutoring alongside my degree was perfect. I loved helping students gain confidence, hearing about their results day, and it kept my love for maths alive too! I am about to start my Master's degree in September, and would absolutely love to continue tutoring. Whether a student needs tutoring to pass their GCSEs, keep their interest alive in maths, or just a push to achieve higher, I'd love to help!

Over the past 5 years I have taught hour-long maths sessions for both KS2 and GCSE level. During these sessions, I am always happy to work at the pace of the student, ensuring they are comfortable and understanding everything. I always begin a topic by teaching my student a particular method, and we practise together until the student can do it independently. I also do a lot of exam practice to get students ready for their GCSEs particularly; however, with KS2 I often incorporate games into maths to keep the subject interesting for the child.

Sophie has tutored my son Alex for the past 2 years and is predicted a grade 9 for his GCSE results. From Sophie’s help his average grade went up from a 6 to a 9 which has now allowed him to apply for Maths A level. Sophie has never missed any scheduled tutoring appointments, is always punctual and maintains an enthusiastic and supportive learning atmosphere each session.
Sophie is an amazing tutor, she goes absolutely above and beyond. My son was struggling with year 11 maths (dyslexia) , so we sought a tutor to try and help him pass (He was predicted a 3). Sophie engaged him like his teacher couldn’t, and made him personalised worksheets for what he struggled with most. She worked with him from December until exams and he ended up not only passing, but he got a grade 5 in the end! Can’t thank her enough for all she’s done for my Nick, she’s truly phenomenal
