About Pratik
Hi, I’m Pratik Maity, a Physics and STEM educator and graduate of the University of Calcutta.
I specialize in teaching Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Python, with experience working with students across a wide range of curricula, including IB, IGCSE, GCSE, Edexcel, A-Level, AP, ICSE, ISC and CBSE.
My primary area of expertise is Physics, where I focus on developing strong conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills rather than relying on rote memorization.
I particularly enjoy connecting Physics and Mathematics with computational methods. I use Python, NumPy, SciPy and Matplotlib to create simulations, animations, graphs and visualizations that help students understand complex concepts in a more intuitive and engaging way.
Alongside STEM teaching, I also have experience with Java, HTML, CSS and LaTeX, allowing me to support students with programming and scientific-computing requirements.
I teach students from different academic levels, including school students, international-curriculum students and learners preparing for IB, IGCSE, GCSE, A-Level and AP examinations.
I am also associated with Ascend Institute, where students can access additional subject-specialist faculty when they require support across multiple subjects.
My goal as an educator is to make challenging subjects clear, logical and interesting, while helping students develop the confidence and problem-solving ability to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.

About My Lessons
My lessons are designed to help students understand concepts deeply, solve problems confidently, and perform better in examinations.
I teach Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Python for students following IB, IGCSE, GCSE, Edexcel, A-Level, AP, ICSE, ISC and CBSE curricula.
My Teaching Approach
I follow a structured approach:
Concept → Visualization → Mathematical Understanding → Problem Solving → Exam Application
Rather than encouraging students to memorize formulas, I focus on understanding why a concept works and how to apply it to unfamiliar problems.
For Physics and Mathematics, I regularly use diagrams, graphs, simulations and real-world examples. Where appropriate, I also use Python, NumPy, SciPy and Matplotlib to create simulations and visualizations that make complex concepts easier to understand.

Personalized Lessons
Before starting, I try to understand the student’s curriculum, current level, academic goals, strengths and areas that need improvement.
The lessons are then adapted accordingly. A student preparing for an IB/A-Level/AP examination will receive a different approach from a student who needs to strengthen their fundamentals.
My goal is not simply to finish a syllabus, but to help students become independent and confident problem-solvers.
Online Classes
Classes are conducted online using an interactive digital setup, allowing us to work through live explanations, diagrams, equations, graphs, problems and simulations together.
Students can ask questions freely throughout the lesson, and I encourage them to explain their reasoning rather than simply follow a solution.
For Students Who Need Multiple Subjects
Through Ascend Institute, I can also coordinate with subject-specialist teachers in other STEM areas when a student requires support in multiple subjects.
Every lesson is tailored to the student’s curriculum, level and goals.
