About April
I am an interdisciplinary artist and tutor with experience in art consultation/curation, as well as pastoral care and evaluation. Focused on art theory and the engagement of interactivability, I pride myself in assisting others in the application of their ideas as well as stretching curatorial conventions. Having worked and freelanced in many Galleries/Museums and studios I strive to engage with people of all ages.

Time in academia has strongly influenced how I envision my career, becoming particularly interested in peer-to-peer learning, action learning, collaborative thinking in an creative environment, and the teaching of interdisciplinary artists. Assisting another to fulfil themselves to the best of their ability gives me profound job satisfaction. I am looking to combine the skills gained within my time at Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Manchester to contribute to a team within a forward thinking organisation which seeks to drive social goals to the basis of their working program.
During my time training at Granada centre of Anthropology I gained the skills required to take on this role. I have made my own documentary films as well as having practiced as a video artist in my time as an undergrad. During my time on Visual Anthropology was where I would work both visual and audio on a day to day, routine basis, in a pre and post production, making my own work.
Trained/Fluent in a wide range of creative suites, such as Adobe Premiere pro, Reaper, Photoshop, Subtitling and transcribing. As well as administrative tools, such as power-point, Excel, CRM platforms, and Access.
I have ran projects in Manchester, Salford, London and Berlin. Handling artists, musicians and galleries. I am fluent in arts funding, and have a proven track record in budget handling and fundraising, for example Simulacra. My recent qualification and Visual Anthropology (MA), provided in an understanding of the creative sector, which is intrinsic to this job role. I was a leading member of a team which held the interactive, interdisciplinary multi-sensory events displaying the work of 30+ separate projects over 3 days. This was called ‘Simulacra’ and held at the Victoria Baths in Ardwick.
Having devised multiple workshops during my time at Manchester Art Gallery as part of the Clore Art gallery/and school, here the emphasis was on interactive learning. From assisting Arts education to babies to fully grown adults. We encouraged tactile work, to family members of all ages, ranging from sonic, to life drawing, and even producing performance with the attendees. Ability to objectively gather data and clearly quantify its impact.
