About Ciall
I have grown up studying the art of teaching and how students learn well. I have a broad education and can talk about ancient history, the elements of classical music, Latin texts, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, Italian literature, and anything to do with maths and numbers. In short I aim to inspire students to learn and to enjoy learning. I received an A1 in Latin for the Irish Leaving Certificate (ie. A Levels) and did two years further study half of which taught 99% in Latin. I already have experience teaching a weekly class of 10 young teenagers Latin as well as giving tuition in Maths, Music, and Latin to different ages and types of students. I'm a patient and considerate teacher. I have regularly taught in different ways while reading maths and Italian at Trinity College Dublin and have since started a PGCE teacher training course in maths. In particular I have experience teaching with a tablet and stylus and using technology effectively. I am open to providing online intensive Latin classes available 1-1 or in small groups over summer and potentially beyond. All abilities and previous experience (or none) welcome but previous linguistic experience an advantage. I would use either the Henle Latin Series, Longmans' Latin, or Lingua Latina at the choice of the student. I am also open to Simplicissimus or any appropriateness textbook available. As this would be an intensive summer course, I wish to be as flexible as possible with the style, frequency, and timings of the lessons and the homework in between. I am willing to give online lessons via Microsoft Apps such as OneNote, Whiteboard, and Teams.
