About Letícia
I am a computer scientist with a Master’s degree in Theoretical Computer Science from the University of São Paulo (2013), Brazil. I am currently an Instructor at Mount Royal University (Calgary, AB), teaching mathematics, and I also teach Computer Science. Over eight years of postsecondary teaching experience in Brazil and Canada have allowed me to develop strong technical expertise and instructional excellence in both fields. I have taught Software Development and Computer Science at SAIT in Canada and at postsecondary institutions in Brazil, in addition to courses such as algebra, discrete mathematics, logic, programming, and foundational mathematics. I design clear, well-structured lectures that connect theory to practical applications and foster critical and analytical thinking. I am committed to identifying students’ learning gaps and adapting my teaching strategies to support their success, cultivating a respectful and inclusive learning environment that promotes meaningful engagement with mathematical and computational ideas.

My teaching approach is grounded in competency, inquiry, and problem based learning. I focus on ensuring that students develop the core skills necessary to truly master the material, rather than simply memorizing procedures. I actively engage students through probing questions and meaningful dialogue, encouraging participation and critical thinking throughout the class. I also design targeted, practical exercises to monitor progress and assess understanding. My classes typically center on one or two key topics to avoid overwhelming students with excessive information. I begin by clearly outlining the agenda and learning objectives, reviewing prerequisite concepts when needed. I then introduce new material through relevant real world examples before moving into the technical details, which I present in accessible and structured terms. To gauge comprehension, I assign exercises of varying levels of difficulty and work through selected problems with students using a guided, Socratic approach. I conclude each class with a concise summary of the main concepts covered. My teaching is primarily directed toward college, undergraduate, and master’s students in IT, Computer Science, and STEM programs.
